Seven lightworkers share how they reset and restore for more balanced days.

Whether we’re unwinding from our work week or transitioning into a new part of our day, creating moments of calm and ease helps us keep burnout and overwhelm at bay. But, as we know, setting the intention to relax is just the start. It takes time, space (physical, mental, or otherwise), and even a pep talk or two to consistently follow through.

Today, we’re sharing a few quotes from lightworkers in our community about how they reserve time to relax by shifting intention into restful action — all while inspiring us to do the same!

1. Mindful Snacking & Movement

“I’ll have a light snack around 11 a.m. — like pasture-raised cottage cheese with homemade blueberry compote — and I’ll have eight ounces of bone broth or a healthy protein that will sustain my afternoon until early dinner around 5 p.m. Before dinner, I take a 20-minute walk [and then] a bath with salt to transition into my evening hours. An hour before bed, I’ll have a small glass of warm jujube tea to help me sleep through the night.” — Heng Ou, Gut Health Expert

2. Resetting Our Spaces

“I transition my space in mornings and evenings with sage, meditation, taking a shower, and doing my gratitude list. It’s how I transition from spreadsheets and grant-finding to spending time in silence.” — LaFrae Sci, Musician and Educator

“As a working mom, I realized it can be hard to find time to simply be. So, I begin waking up very early in the morning to take two hours of meditation and movement before my daughter wakes up.”— Deborah Hanekamp, Energy Healer

5. Just Breathing

“The simplest thing I can say is breathe. Sometimes, I will find myself experiencing anxiety and tension in my body, and I try to tell myself, ‘You’re fine.’ I’ll feel like my shoulders are hunched, my jaw is locked, and I’m not really taking deep breaths. I just have to stop and think, ‘Okay, breathe, relax, shake it out. You’re fine. You’ll be fine.’ Eventually I believe it, because I am.” — Tahirah, Model and Style Blogger

6. Sitting Solo — And In the Moment

“I love candles, for all times of day: in the morning, while I have Alexa play an 8 a.m. playlist by Snoh Aalegra, and then later, while cleaning my apartment. When I declutter my space, I declutter my mind, too.
