Priscilla Frederick Loomis is not just a name; it’s a symbol of empowerment, resilience, and compassion. From her achievements as a former Olympic athlete to her philanthropic efforts with the Priscilla E. Frederick Foundation, she exemplifies the power of determination and self-care. In this chat, Priscilla opens up about the pressures of perfection, the inspiration behind her mission to support single-parent households, and how she transformed challenges into stepping stones to success.
Initially, I aspired to be in entertainment, to command the stage like my idols. However, my journey through track and field showed me a deeper purpose — making people feel empowered and uplifted. My mission now is to be the rising tide that lifts all ships by helping others to find their passions and embrace their unique gifts.
Growing up in diverse environments, I often felt like I didn’t fit in or wasn’t “enough.” But I realized that I couldn’t control others’ perceptions. I learned to focus on how I felt about myself. I built resilience and strength by making choices aligned with my authentic self and embracing my uniqueness. I couldn’t control external opinions, but I could control my mindset and actions. Challenges became growth opportunities. I disregarded the idea of perfection because it doesn’t exist.
Affirmations became my foundation. They allowed me to shift my self-talk from negative to positive. I visualize myself as a powerful force, saying, “I’m a badass” or “I’m about to conquer the day.” Embracing affirmations helped me recognize my worth and realize the importance of showing up for myself daily.
People don’t like consistently showing up for themselves. They show up for that one day. But what about the rest of your life? I started to tell people to show up for themselves the same way they showed up for Taylor Swift and Beyonce. If you had a ticket for a concert every day, your whole energy would be different. Why shouldn’t that be your every day? Remember that you are an extraordinary person deserving of self-love and dedication. Surround yourself with positivity, make self-love a habit, and focus on becoming the best version of yourself. Shift your narrative from limitations to possibilities.
The foundation is a tribute to my mom, a single parent who displayed unwavering determination. Witnessing her struggles and sacrifices ignited my passion for giving back. Through grants and scholarships, we provide practical help to single parents. We also empower women through workshops and events to reinforce the idea of self-worth and self-love. It’s about being there for others by pouring love and support into their lives.
Experiencing a health crisis challenged my sense of security in my body. It was a moment of vulnerability, but it also sparked resilience. I realized that while I might not have reached millionaire status, I could still make a meaningful impact. This realization helped me channel my drive into creating the foundation, honoring my mom’s legacy, and supporting those who need it.
Soulcare rituals have become my daily dose of self-love. As an athlete, my body is my temple — but Keys Soulcare offerings have elevated my self-care routine beyond physical nourishment. Offerings and affirmations serve as constant reminders of self-love, and through these rituals, I’ve learned to appreciate my natural beauty by finding peace and alignment within myself physically and mentally.
My legacy is one of positivity, empowerment, and self-love. I want to be remembered as someone who made people feel incredible about themselves, encouraged them to embrace their uniqueness, and ignited their courage and resilience. My mission is to leave a trail of empowered individuals who believe in their worth and shine their light unapologetically.
