Lightworkers across fashion, philanthropy, and more on what inspires their sense of beauty.
– KEYS SOULCARE
Definitions of beauty are as plentiful as the stars in the sky, and as personal as our own unique stories. We’re all about convos that make you feel a little more seen and celebrated. Lucky for us? So are the lightworkers who we interviewed over the last few seasons.
From being more intentional about the “inspo” taking hold of their social feeds and schedules, to setting intentions to be of service to others, read on for sources inspiring some of our favorite lightworkers to see beauty through new eyes.
“I’m inspired by people healing, people growing and evolving, and people who [are] bold enough to show this world how to evolve, heal, ascend, and vibrate higher. My grandmothers, Thich Nhat Hanh, and Howard Thurman are all spiritual icons to me.” — Lalah Delia
“On top of my book stack right now is The Body Is Not an Apology by Sonya Renee Taylor. I just couldn’t stop marking the pages when I read it. Her voice is so important and so powerful. I love to follow her on Instagram and refer to the book quite a bit in my own journey and teaching.” — Rebecca Casiano
“I’ve been very intentional in curating my social media feeds to center Black women. Everytime I go on my phone, I am surrounded by beautiful, inspiring, strong, and creative Black women who encourage me to be the most authentic version of myself. “ — Tahirah Folk
“My mother. She’s a Motown Mexican (a Latina born in Detroit) arts educator who builds inclusive communities wherever she goes. She’s got an incredible sense of style and taught me how to have gumption by being an example of a bold, smart woman.” — Éva Goicochea
“My partner, Alex, who teaches me how to love and live better, and reconnect to joy again and again and again.” — Sara Auster
“I am grateful to be surrounded by so many people [who] inspire me on a daily basis. But the people that I am really in awe of are the people we serve at the Desai Foundation: these women and girls are joyful, tenacious, beautiful and so eager to become their best selves. Being a small part of helping to cultivate their dignity through health and livelihood opportunities is one of the greatest honors of my life. It really is these women and girls who inspire me the most every day.” — Megha Desai
“My daughters. I know it’s cliché, but seeing them grow and develop into women gives me hope for the future. I strongly believe they are born with a personality and a path and parents are really just support staff. It is an awesome thing to see.” — Paula Franklin
