– KEYS SOULCARE
“There is an Indian proverb or axiom that says that everyone is a house with four rooms, a physical, a mental, an emotional and a spiritual. Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time but, unless we go into every room every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not a complete person.” — Rumer Godden, A House with Four Rooms
We all deserve to live as vibrantly and fully as possible — and the Ayurvedic principles seen in Rumer Godden’s Four Rooms is a great place to visualize (and prioritize) that truth.
Our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies all carry separate needs. By understanding where we’re giving most of our attention (or lack thereof), we can work to strike a balance with ourselves and in our lives. Each “room” will look differently depending on our energy and focus, but tending to our full selves daily is the key.
It’s also an important reminder to not only simplify our understanding of what we need to feel whole, but to release the pressure to perform at our highest levels at all times. Some days, we’ll have all the time to focus on some rooms thoroughly, while other days we’ll just — as Godden said — “keep it aired” and give ourselves the patience to come back to them later with more intention and attention.
So long as it happens? It’s more than enough!
