WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DAILY RITUAL THAT’S JUST FOR YOU?
I love my morning routine! I open the drapes and sit in bed while I drink three to four cups of green tea. I throw on some meditation music, strap on a red light therapy mask, and practice mindful breathing techniques. It helps me to begin each day taking care of my insides as well as my outsides.
MY DREAM FOR THE FUTURE IS…
I’m in my 50’s, but I feel like I’m just now hitting my stride. My ultimate goal is to be able to help more people achieve optimal health and wellness; to look and feel their best at any age. Our feelings about how we look on the outside are so closely tied to how we feel on the inside and vice versa. Currently, I do private health coaching, but I would love to do this on a more global scale through television. Plans are in the works!
HOW DO YOU TAKE A MOMENT FOR YOURSELF?
I ground myself, literally. I take my shoes off and sit down in the grass with a cup of tea every day around 5 p.m. Grounding (also known as earthing) is an easy, yet profound, health hack.
YOUR PERSONAL MANTRA OF THE MOMENT?
I have two. The first one is “chin up, tits out.” This reminds me to face every challenge head on with dignity, integrity, and resiliency. The second mantra is “today I’m going to dare greatly.” This comes from the “Man in the Arena” speech by Theodore Roosevelt. It’s much easier and safer to stay out of the metaphorical arena of life, yet dreams are often only achieved if you are in the arena, bloodied from battle, and choosing to be in the arena.
WHAT MUSIC, BOOK, AND/OR PODCAST ARE YOU VIBING TO?
I love the Doctor’s Farmacy podcast. I’ve learned so much about health from Dr. Mark Hyman. He was a speaker at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition Institute in NYC, where I obtained my nutrition and health coaching certification.
WHAT DOES BEAUTY LOOK LIKE TO YOU?
Beauty to me is being comfortable and proud of the skin you are in at that particular moment in time.
WHO AND WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Kindness inspires me. Grit inspires me. Courage inspires me. I really admire Brené Brown, the American author who researches shame and vulnerability. You can’t be courageous without being vulnerable.
