When we talk about evolution, we don’t mean the textbook definition of nature’s progression. Evolution is the journey of becoming who you’re truly meant to be. Sometimes it feels like we’re handed a script for our lives, and we fear stepping outside the lines. There’s safety in the expected, so we can get caught up in rehearsing our roles instead of trusting our creative expansion.
As Alicia prepared for the Keys summer tour, she reflected on what it meant to leave her comfort zone and the moments where she hesitated along the way. From her performances on stage to her skincare rituals, Alicia stayed stuck in the familiar habits, even when it didn’t feel right. By embracing evolution, she opened herself up to new ways of being, thinking, and feeling. Tuning into her own desires to step away from the expectations of others gave her back her power, and she wants the same for you.
Here’s the thing: owning your power isn’t about being “perfect” or all-knowing. Owning your power is about being curious enough to try something different and trusting that you have the strength to venture through the unknown. Stretching yourself builds resilience and, most importantly, self-trust. You become your biggest supporter and learn to accept the wins, losses, and redirections that head your way.
And guess what? Self-discovery isn’t a race or destination. You can move at your own pace and flip the script as many times as you please. Some days you’ll go all in and change the whole trajectory of your life; other days, you’ll skip your go-to order and try a new dish off the menu. Whatever you do, it’ll be on your terms — and that’s owning your power!
