“I finally had to come to the place where I realized nobody’s invincible. I didn’t think I could be flawed and be all the things that are just naturally human. Now I understand that. And it’s a much better life… 😘😘😘” — Alicia Keys
Who else is ready to ditch the shame-game and leave “perfection” at the door? As Alicia recently told The Observer Magazine, our flaws (should we choose to call them that) teach us compassion for ourselves and others, and allow the beauty of our authentic selves to shine through.
We’ll say it a little louder for the people in the back: there’s strength in being vulnerable and letting go of unrealistic expectations. There’s power in asking for help, saying you don’t know, and expressing your needs. (It’s the only way to become more supported, educated, and empowered as you move through this thing called life!)
So, be gentle with yourself. Un-learning the “I can do it all” act is a process. But, like Alicia said, it’s a much better life when you’re living for the real you.
