This BTS of Alicia’s life gives all mamas permission to rest — and rally — when needed.

“[Mamas] here’s our reminder to press pause sometimes and make sure you’re not getting lost in the chaos…” — Alicia Keys
There’s a saying about motherhood that, “the days are long, but the years are short.” And while that poetic, heartfelt summary rings true, so does this: The 24/7, all-in requirements of modern motherhood are full of relentless, disorienting emotional, and mental contradictions.
On the one hand (and in Alicia’s post), it’s a privilege to pursue your purpose through your work — and, in nearly every case, work is required to build lives and futures for our families. But, it’s damn hard to say goodbye to the little ones who wish we didn’t have to leave to do it. It’s in that constant push-pull, fun house emotional mirror that modern parents can get swept up (and feel lost) along the way.
We see you. We hear you. And we know your kids love you. So, when you need to take a pause to connect back to yourself, your breath, and internal compass? DO it.
Caretakers, what tools do you use to nurture yourself while you’re parenting your kids?
