The next time you’re stepping into the unknown, remember this simple truth.
– KEYS SOULCARE
“Walking into the night… may every step forward bring us closer to ourselves.” — Alicia Keys
What happens when things go dark or we’re in unfamiliar territory?
For many of us, we become more aware of what is (or could be) around the next bend. And then, we do something that’s so much more useful: we turn into ourselves.
We listen a little harder, see a little further, or just feel more aware of our bodies — like the sound of our breathing or the beat of our hearts. We also become hyper-aware of not just our vulnerabilities and challenges, but our past experiences and agency over what’s next.
More often than not, there will be times when things are unclear, leaving us completely in the dark. But rather than letting our minds run wild with fear, we can let our hearts rest in faith. Faith in ourselves and the universe to not only make it through the murkiness, but to also guide us to embrace who we’re becoming along the way.
So, the next time you find yourself stepping into unfamiliar territory, take notice of what’s happening within you. Let fear and vulnerability bring you awareness, and maybe even thank the darkness for making you more appreciative of the light.
