Globetrotting creative Meghan McNeer inspires herself by connecting with loved ones, near and far.
– KEYS SOULCARE
Meghan McNeer has made a living infusing the world with inspiration, joy, and color. She was Visuals Director for design-focused Domino Magazine, has launched two entertaining businesses, consulted as a creative director, and more recently opened an online print shop of her cult-loved photography work while sheltering in place with her parents in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
See (and smile through) Meghan’s latest projects on her Instagram feed. Here are two rituals she’s created to keep herself inspired and connected:
Create & Send Sanity Preservers
“I couldn’t think of a better way to use my time [right now] than making something as random as an ankle bracelet, enclosing it with love and good intentions, and then mailing it to a friend. I guess I’d call them My Sanity Preservers. I heard something early on [in the pandemic] that we aren’t all in the same boat, but we are in the same storm. I just want to send a little package that reminds some people I care about that they are loved, and make them feel less alone in the storm. The best part about the intention behind this is it also makes me feel less alone.

Tablescapes with My Mom
One way I celebrate myself is the aforementioned making of things, but the other is planning meals and tablescapes with my mom. We both get so much joy from it, and I get to flex my imagination thinking about how everything will come together and what we will need. I love seeing the table come to life in my mind, and then the satisfaction of setting everything up, making food, putting on a playlist I [created], and then sitting down together. This has been such an unexpected year that has made me slow down and stay in one place… but it’s [also] time getting to know my parents as an adult that I would never have otherwise, and it’s priceless.”
