Alicia Keys speaks with Fearne Cotton on how listening to her intuition helps keep her on a path of authenticity.
– KEYS SOULCARE
When you know, you know. By clearing out the decision clutter, and quieting the background chorus, you may surprise yourself at how decisive you are. The trick? Locking steps with your intuition, and stepping into what gets you to your “resounding yes.”
In an interview with Fearne Cotton for the Happy Place podcast, Alicia Keys breaks down how she honors her time. She begins with the focus she had as a girl to learn piano, before discussing her current life as a mother navigating the balance of play and structure with her children.
Keys shares a gem from a discussion with Oprah Winfrey on how to tap into what really matters when making choices. Winfrey reminds her: “You know what a resounding yes feels like.”
As obvious as it may seem, Keys was struck by the fact that navigating choices had never been explained so simply. “It means that, if someone presents you with a question, you know right away when it’s like, ‘Hell yeah, I’m dropping everything and I’m doing that.’ And you know right away when you’re like, ‘I don’t know about that.’ And if you don’t know about that? You don’t have a resounding yes,” she says.
The real challenge can simply be how we frame our needs — accepting our worthiness to make space for that which brings us joy, or even just peace — when giving to or doing for others.
It takes work to stay in touch with our intuition, to trust that we know the answers of questions like “will saying yes to this bring me joy?” Yet by tapping into this soul connection, and walking in our authentic purpose, each of us can get closer to our own yes.
