We couldn’t agree more. Here are four new — and very noteworthy — ways that the world is celebrating the creative and cultural power of women:
The Nobel Prize
Dr. Emmanuelle Charpentier and Dr. Jennifer A. Doudna were announced in October as joint recipients of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their work on genetics. Their research in genome splitting is considered a revolutionary step for curing genetic diseases, alleviating food shortages, and more.
Our Story: Portraits of Change
This August, Washington, D.C.’s Union Station metro played home to an unprecedented work of art — a mosaic incorporating the faces of 100 women whose words, and lives contributed to the ongoing movement for gender equality. The coolest news? The exhibit’s interactive, history-filled archive lives on online, including a downloadable map with a mini bio on each pioneer.
Through Her Lens
This October, Tribeca Film Festival united established and emerging women filmmakers and power players for a series of masterclasses and candid discussions about making meaningful art. Check out their site and social channels for candid convos with Uzo Aduba, Glenn Close, Angela Bassett, and others.
Resistance Revival Chorus
This coast-to-coast, intersectional coalition of women raising their voices in song in the name of social justice and human connection has been a welcome soundtrack to our morning walks and Saturday chill-outs. (We recently had the pleasure of interviewing a few of their members, too.)
