Clarity, calm, and this moment right now are their own reward.
– KEYS SOULCARE
“I don’t wanna forget the present is a gift. And I don’t wanna take for granted the time you may have here with me.” — Alicia Keys, from “Like You’ll Never See Me Again”
Alicia penned these lyrics for her grandmother, Virgil, who played a huge part in her upbringing and lived with the singer during her final days. The words are a universal reminder to treasure every breath and person that touches our path.
“When I wrote this song, a lot of people thought it was about a boyfriend or a man,” shared Alicia before launching into a live rendition last October on an episode of “Red Table Talk.” “But this was really about my love for her. She taught me to cherish the moments.”
It’s a lesson worth learning, because life sometimes gets so busy that the mundane and the monumental feel like one big blur.
But, as Alicia said, it’s when we slow down and appreciate it all that clarity, peace, and presence become their own reward.

How can you live each moment and love those around you more presently, right this minute?
