You read that correctly — from top of the charts to the top of your reading list, Alicia’s hit song “Girl on Fire” is now a coming-of-age graphic novel celebrating the beauty and brilliance of girls discovering their true power.
Girl On Fire — co-written by Andrew Weiner, founder and CEO of Inner Station, and illustrated by Chicago-based artist Brittney Leeanne Williams — centers Lolo Wright, a young girl from Brooklyn who discovers she has telekinetic gifts. (It’s a story for all us who have superpowers that are yet to be revealed.)
Alicia’s no stranger to publishing with Tears for Water: Poetry & Lyrics and More Myself: A Journey under her belt, but Girl On Fire is Alicia’s first-ever graphic novel focused on young adulthood. It’s a good thing our goddess-in-chief is a total pro at stepping up her game and stepping out of her comfort zone to go beyond any limits. (It’s a superpower we love to see).
