Want to get involved, but don’t know where to start? Here are a few beautiful ideas.
– KEYS SOULCARE
With no shortage of worthy social causes and changes to be made right now, getting involved can be overwhelming. We’re kicking off a series featuring organizations that are making a difference in their local communities. (Many recommended by Keys Soulcare community members like you!)
First up? We’re taking a look at Brooklyn and four important organizations making big strides to bring light to the world.
Brooklyn Pride Community Center
With LGBTQ+ community-directed initiatives spanning housing stability, immigration assistance, workforce development, and health services, the ways to support this holistically-minded community center are just as plentiful. (As are the wellness events and community workshops to take part in, online.) | lgbtbrooklyn.org
Bed-Stuy Strong
This mutual aid network blends traditional resource sharing (like on-the-ground deliveries and pop-up donation drives) with the merch-worthy gifts from its creatively diverse (and super talented!) volunteer network. | @bedstuystrong
Black Women’s Blueprint
For the last decade, this ground-breaking organization has provided a literal “blueprint” for modern-day initiatives across the fields of economic justice, corporate racial healing workshops, reparations research, and more. Just one shining example? Its Sistas Van, a healing unit on wheels that serves survivors of sexual violence, trafficking, and abuse. | @blackwomensblueprint
Read 718
Dedicated to building strong, confident readers in low-resource families and communities, this non-profit pairs students with volunteers to help them realize and celebrate the joys of reading. (Psst… this organization also hosts volunteer-supported “Reading Room” sessions for younger kids on the weekend.) | @read718

We’re just getting started with the community-building love. Share which cities and groups you think we feature next in the comments!
