A recap of all the glam, power, and magic from Alicia’s latest mini tour.
– KEYS SOULCARE
Alicia’s one-night-only appearances celebrating her latest KEYS album were the secret soirees we desperately needed (and will never forget) after so much time at home. Our goddess-in-chief always delivers a mind-blowing show and these exclusive nights in New York, Dubai, Miami and LA continued to transcend all expectations.
We’re reliving these once-in-a-lifetime performances and sharing some of the most enchanting gems that had us (and the crowds) coming back for more.
“I feel like I just want to live in it because I have a feeling that I’m never going to experience anything like this ever again.”
It’s no wonder why Alicia dropped this line before the Infinite Nights show for Expo 2020 Dubai. With a rotating stage and 360-degree views at Al Wasl Plaza, the opulence of the venue alone cannot be duplicated. Even better? A central theme for the night was global community, which you know our goddess-in-chief can get behind. Alicia paid homage to the universality of music alongside Emirati talent Balqees with a dynamic mashup of their tracks “In Common” and “Entaha” to set the tone. The love was felt even deeper when our superwoman had a super-mom moment with sons Genesis and Egypt, who took to the stage to gift the queen with bouquets of well-deserved flowers.
“Music and ART meets Neuroscience!!!! Definitely a once in a lifetime experience!”
At Miami’s Superblue gallery, the fusion of immersive art and an Alicia-led meditation was a soul-full symbiosis. Alicia started the evening off with guided reflections and deep breathing, reminding attendees that “there’s no breath you take alone.” She went on to take everyone’s breath away with an equally immersive show — the stage embellished in 360-degree digital projections of florals. Alicia even sported a vibrant yellow ‘fit to match the energy, in full bloom.
“I’ve performed at a lot of special places, but something about the Apollo… you can feel the magic in the WALLS. You can feel the voices, the artists, the musicians, the LEGENDS that graced those halls. Blessed to be among them.”
Alicia is synonymous with New York, so when she took over the iconic Apollo stage, it was a homecoming that was otherworldly. Alongside fellow NY chart-toppers like Jadakiss and Styles P, Alicia embodied the concrete jungle, honoring the rich history of music, dance, and entertainment the Big Apple has to offer. From tap dance and silk aerial performances to Alicia’s sultry sashay through the theater aisles (while effortlessly belting out the KEYS original “Nat King Cole”), the evening is sure to go down in the Apollo history books. The energy from the crowd? Unmatched. Especially when Alicia dished out some classics — including “Girl on Fire” and “No One” — which had everyone out of their seats and singing along to the throwbacks we still have on repeat.
“I’ve been waiting for this moment because I’ve had this night pictured in my head and now it’s gonna happen.”
For the last show of her mini tour, Alicia literally took us to church. One of Los Angeles’ few remaining nineteenth-century landmarks Vibiana — the former cathedral with ornate pillars and arched halls of marbled stones — was the venue of choice for the tour’s grand finale. Alicia went all out, even switching things up on stage with special guest and Inglewood native D Smoke. Rather than taking her rightful place behind the keys, Alicia stood by as D Smoke took over to perform his track “Fly.” In true queen fashion, Alicia vibed out and hyped up the tune with unwavering enthusiasm, decked out in a head-to-toe glitter bodysuit and platform boots, making the night even more memorable.
From coast to coast (and hemisphere to hemisphere), this tour was just the beginning of what’s to come from KEYS and Alicia — but, in the meantime, we’re more than happy to muse over these stellar moments.
