Attia Taylor | Womanly Magazine
As the founder and editor-in-chief of Womanly Magazine, Attia combines her artistry with advocacy to bring disparities in health and access to the forefront. Ran mainly by a team of talented volunteers, Womanly provides digital and printed collections of researched medical news, advice, and creative narratives that center on the well-being of Black and Brown women and nonbinary people. Attia’s mission is to find a way to acknowledge medical inequities and educate marginalized persons needing trusted information and resources.
Jaycina Almond | Tender Foundation
When Jaycina found herself young, single, and pregnant, she learned first-hand what it meant to have a community in motherhood. The model and super-mama used her experience as a 20-year-old single mother to inform her vision for the Tender Foundation, an organization supporting other mothers in need. From bill pay assistance to diapers and gift cards, the Tender Foundation leaves no stone unturned regarding motherhood. (It takes a village, after all.) Jaycina ensures that moms know they are not alone at any juncture of their journey, and is dedicated to providing ongoing care to prevent isolation and burnout.
Asha Patel | Asha Patel Designs
The pharmacist-turned-jeweler behind Asha Patel Designs built her business on living intentionally. Woven into her concept of handmade artisan jewelry is the community. Asha, who infuses her rich Indian traditions and Sanskrit teachings into her collection, cultivates a deeper connection to her roots with her charitable Greater Love necklace. The key tag cut symbolizes Asha’s story of immigration from India to England and eventually the U.S., where her parents purchased a modest motel to build a new life in America. To continue to inspire brighter futures, a portion of Greater Love sales supports several charities, including the Center for Reproductive Rights, Every Mom Counts, and She’s the First.
Women supporting women is our favorite kind of soulcare. How are you supporting women this week? Share some BIG love in the comments!
